TBT: My first intentionally abstract painting

These days, I make a lot of abstract paintings. There’s something about putting paint to canvas with absolutely no plan and creating something beautiful. The first time I ventured into this painting genre was in 2009, when I painted this:

An early composition, 10×8, acrylic on canvas, 2009

Originally titled “Cascade”, this was an experiment of colour, lines, and negative space.

Since then, I’ve created a wide array of abstract paintings: some that I’ve liked, some that I didn’t, and many in between. But I think it all started on a good foundation!
